Wychavon Festival of Brass 2013

Wychavon Festival of Brass September 14[SUP]th[/SUP] and 15[SUP]th[/SUP] 2013

Bands are invited to enter this year’s contest held across two days in Evesham town centre. First and Second Sections will be held on September 14[SUP]th[/SUP] in All Saints church while Sunday 15[SUP]th[/SUP] sees the Third and Fourth Sections in Wallace House, the new contest venue. The Championship Section takes place in All Saints in the afternoon.
Cash prizes are good – ranging from £1500 for the Championship Section winners to £500 for the Fourth Section. The full range of prizes on offer can be seen on the website (www.festivalofbrass.co.uk)
Places are limited to ten, so bands are advised to get their applications in soon--- the closing date is July 20[SUP]th[/SUP].
The contest takes place during this year’s Steak and Pie Festival (which might have great appeal to some sections of the banding community!) held on the Saturday in Evesham Town centre which also hosts numerous cafes, pubs and other food outlets.

All participating bands at this year’s contest should have heard from Kevin by now.

The draw for the contest takes place in Evesham on August 13[SUP]th[/SUP] 2013 at 7.30pm in the Mayor’s Parlour in Evesham Town Hall. Participating band secs are welcome to attend. Full details of contest arrangements, draw order etc will be forwarded to bands by Kevin following the meeting.

Wem Jubilee Band are extremely pleased with 2nd place in the 3rd Section. Congratulations to all winning bands and thank very much you to the organisers and officials for running another great contest.

Slightly worrying that there were so few 'local' bands (within 25 miles or so) at the contest. Only 4 or 5 from the West Midlands Association and a couple from Gloucestershire. Wonder why that is?

May have something to do with 1. The timing (holiday season just finished) 2. The noticeable decline in top bands & 3. I noticed that a local man was adjudicating I bet he's conducted a few of the bands around the area
