A few months ago, the EBBA announced that they will organise a brass band world championship next year in Holland, in cooperation with the organisers of the 4-annual World Music Contest in Kerkrade.

BAYV website said:Top bands from ten countries have been invited to compete at the World Brass Band Championships 2005 organised as part of the World Music Concourse at Kerkrade, Netherlands, on Saturday-Sunday, July 9-10. They will perform a new test piece to be written by Philip Wilby and an own choice concert programme.
Bands invited are the current European and British Open champions, Yorkshire Building Society Band (England), the National Band of New Zealand, Buy As You View Cory Band (Wales), Scottish Co-op (Scotland), Chicago BB (USA), Stavangar BB (Norway), BB 13 Etoiles (Switzerland), BB Willebroek (Belgium), Provinciale BB Groningen (Netherlands), and a Band of players selected by the National Band Council of Australia. Bands have been invited by a "special invitation" after consultations between EBBA, W MC and the different national federations.

Bands participating in WBBC 2005 will play a new test piece composed by Philip Wilby, as well as an own choice concert programme.
Adjudicators for all sections will be selected by the EBBA MC at a meeting of 3-4 August 2004.
