Why do I have to wait 30 seconds to post in different threads?

I fully understand the need to prevent cyber terrorists from buqqering up the system, but couldn't the 30 seconds apply to posts, rather than threads?

The spammers are generally set up to post one time in multiple threads rather than multiple posts in the same thread - remember, their goal is to have as many people as possible see their material, and the more threads you can infect the more people you're likely to reach.
