Must admit, not a favourite piece of mine! Still, we at Croydon are getting over the disappointment at not having enough players to enter the regionals, but I've set them an ambitious programme for a proposed concert in May (including Vizcaya, if we get enough bums on seats - to make up for missing out at the areas!) in the hope that (when advertising for players again!) we can attract a few so that we don't have to rely too heavily on deps. Pieces like Barbarian Horde, Harmonious Variations on a Theme of Handel and some antiphonal brass numbers - with the cornet section spread out around the church! Fingers crossed......... I definitely won't be including Who Pays the Ferryman!south bank said:back to rehearsals tonight after xmas break and not looking forward to one piece our md has chosen for coming season "who pays the ferryman" its the worst piece ive ever played. Is it just me or are others of the same opinion

I can't remember whether we did it with Festival Band but we definitely did with the school orchestra - lovely excuse for some raucous, out-of-tune playing   :lol:Roger Thorne said:
Yup - it is! I've got this one - the first band cd I ever purchased, in fact - in my youth! There are a few nice pieces on it now that I think about it!PeterBale said:It's also on the compilation release "Brass to the Fore" - probably the Royal Doulton recording referred to previously.
