Now I know my surname is a rather unusual way of spelling 'Payn' ('pain' would be more appropriate) but twice in the last two days, I've been asked to give my name for one reason or another, and have gone to great 'pains' to spell it out 'p-a-y-n and no 'e'. And both times they write it down, and stick an e on the end. Is it coz I fick and carn't even spel mi oan naym? On the second occasion, I actually challenged the person concerned as to whether he heard me spell my name out. He replied 'Yes, but that's how Payne is always spelt' 'So you're trying to tell me I can't spell my own name then?'
I mean it's not like my surname's Kopinski, Wojtowicz, or even Zylgtirhytw (!) AAAGGHHH
Anyone else had problems with people who assume you can't spell your own name?
