can you guess who I support yet? (and who the best team in superleague is?)
Ah, two questions. In answer to your first, no, but it's probably not Salford or Whitehaven.

In answer to your second, it's Wigan. Sorry.
You should be sorry. Wigan were the best Superleague team, but aren't any more. They're now not as good as either Saints or the Bulls. And this season, Leeds Rhinos will crush all!

its very interesting to read what folks do outside of band.......... so here goes.............
I am a civil servant by day and work in the local jobcentre. I conduct my local brass band (5 mins walk away!......good beer  ) www.lespb.co.uk which is the love of my life, luckily all my family play with the band so I get to see them alot!! I also play principal cornet with Nottingham City Transport Band. I also do a bit of teaching in the evenings.
I have also got my own dance band called "Anything Blows" and I play lead trumpet se web site at www.anythingblows.co.uk and as if that isnt enough I also play trumpet in pit orchestras for shows etc.
In my spare time (ha ha) I like walking in the lake district or walking locally with my nutty dog Scrappy! (kids all grown up now!)
I also enjoy the theatre , barbeques, (with beer or red wine) curries with the same, socialising with friends (nearly all musical) and raising money for my band!
phew thats enough I think.......... no wonder I'm always Knackered!!

Oh no not another Pie Eater. Mr Straightmure how could you.

Castleford Tigers GGRRRRRRRRR All the way.
No, No, No, No, No

It's just gotta be Bradford Bulls!
oh god not the bulls. this is going from bad to worse.

Singing voice *" Stand up if you hate the bulls. Stand up if you hate the bulls"
* to the tune of go west.
You've all got it wrong. Easts are the team to support (that's Sydney City Roosters to the rest of you!). Before Murdoch got his hands on the NRL, it was the Bears, but they are long gone.

Anyway, when I'm not at band, or doing the paperwork, I'm an accountant for Your Move (Norwich Union's Estate Agency division). When I'm not doing that, I can be found in the pub, or playing centre-back for Heworth on a Saturday afternoon round the football pitches of York. That pretty much sums up my life! I'd love to have more time to watch United play, but since I can do that when I stop playing football, they can wait.

>Ahem<.... Who are defending their Challenge Cup trophy this year? And who did they beat to get it?

Funny how some people's memories can't retrieve facts from as far as a year ago! :D

Hi Fishta,

Spent a happy 10 or so years in Lancashire including a stint in Preston.

I notice your surnane is "Fishwick". Wasn't there a local bus company called that in the area?

I'm talking 77 to 87 ish!!

There is indeed still such a bus company. John Fishwick & Sons, green things.

And now I shall give myself a warning for wandering off-topic.

And I've just remembered (and I hope Neal's suitably ashamed for not having added this to his post!) to add that I'm also proud godmother to Cornealia (see another thread!)

Ah yes... the self-flagellating will commence later. So sorry Cornealia..

As for the other sub-thread going on here.. I don't know much about Rugby League - not played so much over here. But am hoping for a Munster win later next month in the Euro semis. :D All ye Leister supporters- remember the Glouster fate...

Oh, and also gearing up for the big Six Nations game on Sunday!

I did say "this season, Leeds Rhinos will crush all!" - Wigan will be lucky to win anything this year - Saints and Bulls have the rush on everone else.

Not much of a victory against Wakefield at the weekend was it?

I much prefer rugby union, being a girl and being fickle I support two teams, Bath and Sale depending on who is doing better!! This season I'm a Sale sharks supporter. I think Cornet Girl has found the hidden link between banding.........beer! it could also be the big brutes of men that are common to both....

I am still at school which is where i am a lot of the time. Also I like horse-riding, writing mad stories and walking the dog. Generally being quite bonkers actually.

Also I don't know the first thing about Rugby League, I've only ever been to see Rugby Union. Sorry!

When I am not at band, I can normally be found religously practising my Trombone (I have put this just in case anybody from my band is looking!!)

In reality I work in Telford as a Test Manager - when not at work (not often enough) I am normally spending time with my wife and kids of 4,2 & 1 (Note to diary - I must spend more time at band!).

I also play footie on a Thursday evening - but I am going to have to give this up soon - I guess I am getting too old and knackered!

I also spend mucho time sat in front of the telly drinking from a can - like my hero - Homer J Simpson.

oh dear rach, you have led a sheltered life! do less music stuff and live a little!!

As for me.

I am 2nd Year Urban Studies and Planning student at Sheffield Uni, this involves 13 hours of lectures a week (worst case scenario, its usually less). Unfortunatly most of these are in the mornings, which to be fair, ruins my day when i could be doing much more constructive things such as sleeping. I work in my local Co-op on friday nights and saturdays, where i get patronised by students who think im an idiot in a deadend job, and am hated by locals cos i'm a student.

Other than band (twice a week), I also play in a concert band (sparkling quavers used to be its social sec. come back rachel!!). i have also been known to play in a jazz band and the uni symphony orchestra. aarently imalso a member of a 10 piece band, but we have been officially formed for nearly a year and have yet to actually have a rehearsal!!

I am a diehard Newcastle fan and have great priority clashes when champs league games are tuesday nights (bandnight). i also play football (badly) on a wednesday afternoon.

At home I am invovled with scouting, being a Network Scout (or whatever venture scouts are currently called) and a Cub Leader.

I also enjoy a pint or 10 with my mates. its a bad sign when at 2 minutes to 11, me and a mate are buying 2, 4 pint jugs!  but we did it, all gone by 11.20!! oh the joys of being a student....... it only cost £1 a pint!!

yeah, thats me really. no rugby league preferences, i dont really enjoy it as a game. its just 2 lines of people running into each other repeatedly until they run out of tackles, and then it goes back the other way. A repetitive in my opinion. (You're just a bunch of egg chasing *beep*ers) However, i know 2 Wigan and 1 Wakefield fan.

where as football is a bunch of people jumping over a ball not wanting to touch it in case it's dirty and complaining they're injured when they get tackled. And oh yeah, the association sacks any head who tries to modernise the game and make it a bit more interesting.

:) Well you could say all my time is free time at the moment, still no word from the elusive Bugis Band so I have consoled myself with looking at pawn -yes the spelling is correct- shops and going to the cinema, all during the day of course, when hubby gets in from work we have dinner and watch tv.

Other hobbies include, knitting, cross stitching, dress making -the shops only sell up to about a size 6 so I don't stand a chance of buying clothes- reading, puzzle books which I get from the UK when anyone comes over for a holiday

:? Uurrrm! :?

Oh yes and looking after my kids, well the 10yr old, the 17yr old doesn't really need looking after -most of the time anyway!- all schools under Junior College age are closed because of the outbreak of SARS until 6th April, we go on holiday to Australia on the 5th so hopefully it will be sorted by the time we get back, so I have to try to find things to entertain him until then!

So I guess my life is quite boring at the moment, I'll have to console myself with the sunshine I guess, exept it's raining just now, ha ha ha!!!

I'll think of you all while I'm basking!!!!!!!!!! :p :p :p :p :p
