Hi Folks,
Due to the success and enjoyment of performing with the tMP band we thought it would be a great idea to try and secure another ‘full’ concert performance in the near future. We are pleased to announce that we have managed to ‘provisionally’ book two solo performances at the forthcoming Pontin’s Contest.
We have asked if we could perform for about an hour early on the Saturday Evening and also present a short programme prior to the Championship Section results being announced on the Sunday.
It’s looking very positive that the Saturday performance will go ahead, but we are awaiting an announcement from the Adjudicators, via the organisers, as to whether or not they are willing to have a band play whilst deliberating their results.
Although you may have a lot of questions to ask regarding these performances, at this present moment we are looking for our members to volunteer to play in this band. Obviously with the amount of members attending this contest we may have to limit the numbers, so we invite you to post your availability in this thread, and if your own band isn't playing at Pontin's, this could be a good enough reason for you to attend.
As this is a fantastic opportunity for the tMP band to perform in front of a ‘home’ crowd we would have to make a serious effort to perform to the best of our ability and, as usual, with limited rehearsal times. Therefore we are asking for members who are prepared to sacrifice a ‘few’ beers until after our performances! Perhaps we should be looking for a tMP Temperance Band!
I know this is a tall order, but the tMP team feel strongly that ‘alcohol’ consumption would not only spoil a fantastic opportunity but also jeopardise the chances of performing at other big events. It would also give out the wrong message to parents and guardians of our younger members that may like to play with the band.
So, have a serious think about it and if you are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice, I’m sure we can accommodate you in this unique opportunity.
Here are a few details for the weekend which may help you make a decision. (performance times taken from last year)
Saturday 30th October:
Fourth Section - 9.00 a.m. start
Third Section - 2.00 p.m. start - expected to finish about 8.00 p.m.
