Right - great news at last.
I know this has been a long time coming, but at last the Producer of West Midlands BBC Children in Need has finally contacted us.
The news is that the BBC DO want us for this years Children in Need. She said they would want us to play - if possible - three times..
1 - Live on air to local TV (BBC Midlands i.e. >4,000,000 people coverage) in the Mailbox during the evening with the possibly of a recording of this going out on TV sometime during the evening.
2 - Live broadcast on BBC Radio West Midlands (between 1:00 and 4:00)
3 - to the crowd outside sometime during the evening
We have to get in touch with several people to get the details sorted.
I know it is short notice, but there really isn't anything any of us could have done to speed things up - John has been contacting the BBC regularly, and it's only now that they are starting to contact those who they wish to use to 'make up' their show.
So, I'm hoping we are still green light 'go' for launch, and that we can muster up some good 'ol tMP support for this whole thing.
Just to remind everyone of the details:
Friday 21st November
Venue: Birmingham
(approximate times: Midday onwards - allowing for a rehearsal)
Allthough we have conducted a Poll to assess the availability of players, obviously it is now short notice so what we would like our members to do is:
Post in this Thread ONLY if you are still available and the instrument or position you normally play in your own band.
ie: Joe Bloggs - 2nd Cornet.
We are looking for approximately 50 musicians (2 full bands).
We would also appreciate some non-playing members to help alongside with the general running of things.
We will then contact/update you via e-mail or PM and send you further details as we receive them here.
Thanking you in anticipation of your support.
