Hello Brass Banders
Welcome to another two show of brass band music from Sunday Bandstand.
Ernst Stieberitz b: 2.05.1877 d: 27.03.1945, a German composer, conductor and flautist. His first music lessons were at the music school in Camburg on the Saale River. His was taught the flute. He started his military career as a flautist on 1.10, 1896 in the military chapel of the 8. Rheinische Infantry-Regiment in Saarbrucken. In 1899 he moved Danzig (now: Gdansk). October 1902 he was at the Royal Music Academy in Berlin training as a band conductor. Graduated on 29.07, 1905. On 1.05.1906 , he was BM of the Infantry Regiment band in Danzig
After the First World War he returned as BM in Danzig. In the Prussian army he was promoted to a major. Danzig became a free city and all military forces, including the band had to leave the city. From 1920 to 1945 he was BM with the Musikkorps der Police der Frei Stadt Danzig.
He wrote 60 marches.
He was killed in a bombing on Danzig by the Russian Air Force in 1945.
