Can anyone suggest a good soprano cornet solo?

(Not Queen of the Night Aria as I've already done that one.)

:!: How long have you been around here?!

Did we ever try 'On with the Motley'? Failing that, I'm sure Frosty would adapt well...

I wrote a sop solo called 'Dreams are to be Without Motion', priced at £30.00

It's a cool rocker and those who have heard it love it. If you wish to buy it, pm me.

Demelza, Hugh Nash (really nice, good for slow melody contests)
Jenny Jones, W Rimmer
Rhapsody for Eb soprano Cornet, Robert Eaves

Could you get away with tenor horn solos? if so try:
Variations on a welsh theme
or
capriccio brilliante

I can't remember who arranged the solo but "La Boheme"(Dodgy spelling?)is a fantastic sop solo which I think Roy Roe plays on the recording I have. Absolutely fantastic :!:

"Memories" is another.

"Lark in the clear air". Alan Wycherly performed this on Band of the year many moons ago and its another great solo.

La Califfa (sp?) is a good one, from Vitae Lux. You could try looking on recent YBS CD's, as Peter Roberts has done one on a lot of them.
Flowerdale from Hymn of the Highlands is nice, but the end hangs quite high, as you'd expect from something written for Peter Roberts!

Try Bilitis (Lai/arr. Kerwin). Its apparently the theme from a french movie (thanks Mr Mute!) but one of our basses reckomns its from a porn film  Very pretty tune.

There are two very good Salvation Army soprano solos:

High Fidelity (Norman Bearcroft) - on the ISB cd "Kingdom Triumphant"

A Higher Plane (Stephen Bulla)

Thanks, Peter.
I can also mention Tambourin (Gossec arr. Howard Davies) which is number 577 in our Festival Series.
(James Galway plays this piece on the flute a lot.)
Unfortunately, we still have stock of the whole of this particular journal (it was published in September 2002) so you would have to buy the whole set which is currently £62.50!
