Simply the best band piece in the world . . ever!

On the same subject as my previous post we could also do a Top Ten best pieces. I need to put my thinking cap on for this one . .

Just me being a pedantic BOC I'm afraid, but if there is one thing that bugs me it's people talking about the best/worst/biggest ever, when what they really mean is yet. Advertisers are worst, as they will confidently praise their best ever, and then come up with the new, improved version.

Anyway, off my soapbox and I'll join you with my thinking-cap!

Pete, that really is your best post ever!!!
Cool response!!!!!

Mine has got to be Harry Potter - only ever played it once but just the sheer anticipation or excitement nearly made me wet my pants. It's so like the original orchestral version and captures the atmosphere amazingly.

By the way, I am an adult and not a child, although you wouldn't think so with all this talk of Harry Potter.

Top 10 best pieces....this in theory should be an easier list to think of.

Again in no particular order:

1. Zulu (we love you Roger....sorry, Cory's, Dyke etc but WEM play it best!!)

2. Triptych (phillip Sparke testpiece)

3. Resurgam

4. Doyen (can't remember who did it and it's been years since I played it last)

5. Beatrice and Benedict (again, some years since I played it)

6. Firestorm (stephen Bulla(?), played on first trombone for this at Nationals (?) a few years ago)

7. Disney Fantasy

8. David of the White Rock (various arrangements of this, only one is good and I know it if I see it, probably my absolute favourite)

9. As the Deer (played this on almost March card sized pieces about a year or so ago, absolutely gorgeous piece)

10. Procession to the Minster (I really don't need to explain this one do i??)

Once again, I would be grateful if Mr Thorne would take note of the above list and GET THEM OUT OF THE B****Y LIBRARY IF WE'VE GOT THEM!!!!

Thankyou

7, i don't think so! it's good, but not that good.
Do you think Disney Fantasy is not that good because you are a bass trombonist and the bass bone part is easy??? Or is it because you don't hink it's that good, because, having played it, the bass bone part IS easy (probably not now my lip's not in, but it was)
