I'll be there with Cranbrook on the Saturday in the section with you two. It'll be the first contest with the band for bass trom Johnathon Vokes and on front row, Vicky Mace. We haven't had much time to rehearse, as our MD has had his wrist in a cast for a while (well thats our excuse for weekend in).

Don't forget Brass band Heist will be doing a short concert between the end of the section and the results.

Sadly, City of Cambridge won't be there this year. We had too many clashes with players work and holidays. We decided to go to Leicester instead. Good luck to all at Folkstone and we hope to be there next year!

Egham will be back again after going to the finals instead last year. Quite a few of us will be staying on Saturday night, as is traditional.

Yes, I once had the 'pleasure' of sharing a hotel with Egham band at Folkestone. You lot were downing vodka/red bull cocktails like they were going out of fashion :guiness

Best of luck staying sober long enough to play! ;)

Thanks Duncan, there's always a first time. ;)

We're a lot more sober now than we used to be - until we were promoted to SCABA first section in 2000, we used to play seriously in the second section on Saturday afternoon, go out on the town on Saturday night, then play up in the first section on Sunday for the experience. Possibly we're both older and wiser now, but it's more likely just the first one.

Horhsam aren't going this year - not enough time after holidays and with extra rehearsals for a joint concert with Crawley Millenium Concert Band.

Its in Crawley tonight at the Hawth if anyone fancies an evening of flag waving and fanatical patriotism! Starts 7:30 in aid of Sussex Air Ambulance. Forgot to mention it earlier - sorry!

Thanks!! Hopefully get a hat-trick there - that's a hat-trick of good results, not bad ones!!

Certainly will be a busy weekend, but really looking forward to all 3 pieces!!

Indications suggest that the 2nd section was won by East London, Thundersley came 2nd.
Apparantly Thundersley won "band of the year"

Thundersley did get band of the year, best soloist, and best hymn tune. The award was announced cause there would have been no one there to pick up the award tomorrow.....................Congrats to them all!!

Band of the Year is based on best results at both Hove and Folkestone, so Thundersley can only have won it already if BAE and Fairlop have both withdrawn from the 1st section tomorrow

Congrats to everyone so far, hope to see a few of you in the bar tomorrow!
