March: Rejoice!
Is that the one from the 'green' book all them years ago?
I'm sure it must be. We also had the Orange and Blue Unity series books with gems such as Melodies from Great Composers and Kasangulu. I had to be able to play Merrily Onward and Llanfair from the Orange book before I could join the YP band.

The best piece from the unity series was definatly the march Stand up for Jesus

Factually correct but Eric Ball has often been quoted as saying to the ISB when he first rehearsed it with them, 'Gentlemen, Resurgam has come home'.

Add Daystar to the list please.

There is a terrific piece called 'Thy King Cometh' by Les Condon.

I have an LP from the 1978 congress on which NYSB presented the work (Derick Kane premiered Better World on the same programme), but I have not heard a band play it since. Noone to my knowledge has recorded it either.

Does anyone on here know anything about it? Carl, maybe you could nudge the right people for the ISB to programme it again? Has anybody here actually played the piece. It is not published incidentally, as far as I know.

I wish I had that much influence! If I did then we wouldn't have to worry about Russlan & Ludmilla returning to the stand at periodic intervals!

Carl, you have the right to remain silent...anything you do say may be given as evidence...blah blah. Being in a concert hall full of policemen was a little overwhelming for me last wednesday!!

My favourites are (no order)

The Lord is King
Present Age
Song of the Eternal
Just as I am
To the Chief Musician

for fun - Just Like John

I am surprised that Golden Slippers has not been mentioned and we are already on page 2!

Praise
Just as I am
Constant Trust
Pastoral Symphony
My Treasure

and Gorgie Boys Jubilee!

Most have been mentioned already but my "Top 20" (in no particular order) are -

The Lord is King
Song of the Eternal
Resurgam( it is published the SA Festival Series)
At the Edge of Time
Daystar
Corpus Christi
My Treasure
On Ratcliffe Highway
The Dawning
Song of Courage
The Holy War
Exodus
The Present Age
Aspects of Praise
My Strength My Tower
The Kingdom Triumphant
A Psalm of Praise(Psalm 100)
The King of Kings
The Triumph of Peace
Symphony of Thanksgiving

Interesting to note that with the exception of Corpus Christi, My Treasure, The Dawning, Aspects of Praise and A Psalm of Praise all the others come from the pens of Eric Ball, Les Condon, Dean Goffin and RSA. What a contribution these 4 composers made to the SA reportoire!
