Wakey got a good result last year, getting to RAH not impossible, I think you have a good chance and I believe you will finish in the top half of the section come Sunday, best of luck

I have to say that it's still a hard piece, but so much revolves around musicality and soloists being able to play a tune, it's going to bring up some more shock results....!

Obviously i'm rooting for Hepworth but I reckon Grimey will be in with a shout, as well as Briggus and Carlton Main!

Good luck to all, see you in the bar!!

Just been looking at 4br predictions (1st section). Thought I would check out the points the 9 competing bands will be on going into this year's contest. Amazingly (or is it?) out of the 9 bands competing, only 2 of them have played in the 1st section over the last 2 area contests! The other 7 have either been relegated or promoted either last year or the year before. So without knowing the average points to be given last year and the year before.....I'll have to wait till I get a programme on Sunday!

Well Hatfield did beat Grimethorpe, Rothwell, Sellers and YBS in 2007, and only missed out on a RAH appearance by ONE place! ;) (Ooh and IMPS lol)

Well, we'd be delighted to emulate that! Massive ask though. Hatfield had a cracking team that year...

Wakey to qualify?

The same odds as the 2009 Grand National winner...

100/1

Yeah that sounds about right....

So I'll have a grand national day Grandma style bet of £2 on it. ;)

Well, realistically, there are two fights going on.

The British Open qualified bands (Briggus, Carlton main, Dyke, Grimey, Hepworth, Rothwell) all scrapping amongst themselves....

...and the rest of us scrapping amongst ourselves to stay up, consolidate our place... and maybe trying to take a scalp from one of the big boys if they slip up on the day.

Alright, it'd take nothing short of a miracle for a band like my own to wind up at th'Albert 'all in that company, and we're well aware of it. But as I said in an earlier post, all we can do is go out there, give 100% effort and commitment, and do our utmost to come off knowing we left nothing in the bandroom.

To compete alongside the likes of those bands is an honour, and getting beaten by the likes them is never a disgrace.... but make no mistake, none of us will be making life easy for them....

COULD BE ONE OF THE BEST AREAS FOR YEARS. Ithinkall the bands will make a good contribution to the music with pressure on some more than others a good sunday night entertainment

As long as every band comes off the stage knowing they put 100% into their performances, then I don't mind who wins/qualifies/gets relegated.....
However, no doubt we shall get the usual "We wuz robbed!" and nobody agreeing with the adjudicators again (who will more than likely be asleep for the last 8 bands on Sunday - it'll be past their bedtimes, after all!)....
Area's..... don't you just love them!!

See you all in the bar afterwards!
