Paddy's L&SC Area - 2011

Well, I'm in Epping Forest, so I did some maths, as it was pretty obvious we'd go down first, having come 17th today on top of two years not doing terribly well giving us a total of 42......By my reckoning, there's a point between the next two bands above us on 41 and 40........

Very tight for second relegation spot from section 2
Can anyone confirm?

Andy.
I make it Epping Forest on 42 and Stantonbury on 41.
All the bands will have got a grading table with their adjudicators comments - someone needs to ask their contest sec!

And fwiw, full results have finally appeared on 4br... better late than never!

Yep, that's what I made it - Us on 42, Stantonbury on 41, Chinnor on 40....Didn't dare to name names, though, in case my maths was out......but since yours agrees with mine.......
Andy.

you've only just noticed?!
4br have never paid much attention to bands outside Wales or South of the Watford Gap.....

I've always noticed it Accidental....just thought I'd try and be polite about the sad lack of activity when they are volunteers and in the hope that some gentle hints might show an improvement next year. According to Twitter, the Stevenage to Swansea pigeon went AWOL earlier. It must have dropped dead last week at Torquay!

According to the adjudicator 'no-one could play t'piece'

so no results possible?

no L&SC 1st section bands at the finals !!!!

Fantastic result for ELB - how close does that put them to going straight up next year?
And congrats to Haverhill.

I think off the top of my head it depends on where Staines came; top 7 or so and o reckon they will be up with Haverhill....

Staines were 7th. Egham 6, Alder Valley 10, YWD 16.
By my maths that means unless Ipswich & Norwich came 5th then ELB AND Staines are going up with Haverhill. Impressive.

Quick query ...

Should there not be 3 bands qualifying? Although only 16 played on the day, 17 bands entered the contest?

Qualification to the Finals
i) In respect of sections 1 – 4, qualification for an invitation will depend on the number
of bands entered in the sections at the Regional Championships.
Up to 16 bands entered ……………………………….. 2 bands qualify
17 to 24 bands entered ……………………………….. 3 bands qualify
25 bands and over entered ……………………………. 4 bands qualify

Amazing how Catherine managed to come 5th with Kidlington. I must have imagined conducting them today....

Iwan had had to switch his phone off as he was covering Swansea, which meant sending the results and draw by text, apart from the 2nd Section draw. The results were fine, but there was a glitch in the draw, with a number missing, and no means of him telling which it was - sorry about that.

Regarding the number of bands, I can't remember what they said at the results ceremony, but I also would have thought it should be three bands to qualify.
