Oxfordshire and District Brass Band Association's annual Entertainment Contest took place at Marlborough School, Woodstock on Sunday 20th October. Adjudicated by Duncan Beckley and Gordon Eddison we were delighted to welcome 18 bands across all sections. First prize in Section A (2nd, 1st and Championship sections combined) went to Michelmersh Silver Band (MD: Melvin White) for both Music and Entertainment/Presentation. First prize in Section B (Unregistered, 4th and 3rd sections combined) was awarded to Reading Spring Gardens Band (MD: Matthew Ruel) for Music, and Hemel Hempstead (MD: Paul Fothergill) for Presentation/Entertainment. The full results are available for download on the website, http://www.odbba.org.

We were also pleased to host the Less is More band, a family band from Zwolle in the Netherlands, who entertained the audience while our adjudicators were deliberating their results. With an unusual mix of playing, singing and acting, they brought an exciting and unique aspect to our contest, and we thank them very much.

ODBBA’s next contest is our popular own choice testpiece which will be held on Saturday 22nd February (4th, 2nd and Championship sections) and Sunday 23rd February (Unregistered, 3rd and 1st sections). Entry forms and contest rules will be available on our website shortly.
