Next Event Idea?

As I'm a bit bored now I thought I'd find out the record for the biggest massed band ever. Apparently the biggest ever marching band had 6017 players and the biggest band had 20100 players. So what do we reckon, another years worth of growth we could be pushing for that eh guys? :D

how does that work? left wheel, right wheel, left wheel...? Or do we just completely ignore the moving in time idea? :D

What other playing records are there? Furthest distance travelled during a concert/piece of music, longest concert/chord, concert at highest/lowest altitude, most in tune flugel and horn section

Having a Guiness World Record would be cool for tmp to do (something to do for 2nd birthday perhaps?) :)
Having a scan through their website this looks like one we could beat if we get a shift pattern going!

Longest Concert Performed By A Group
The group John Jerome Sangamam played for 40 hours from 21-23 September 2002, at St Montford Indoor Stadium, Mylapore, Chennai, India. The 20 strong band performed over 500 different numbers, all in Tamil.

Surely we can get a tmp band for 48 hours worth of music, raid your band libraries for all the old chestnuts... :p

Maybe it's an event for next year's Children in Need. I would have thought that a 48 hour concert by tMP Brass would get national coverage.

Thats a point, do it somewhere near CiN this year and time it to end on the friday night, then collect money as we go through and give it to CiN again. :)

I doubt theyll cover all 48 hours though (unless they get another 100 odd BBC channels by then and need something to fill it up!) :p

Might have to be at a Youth Hostel or something so we can get some kip inbetween shifts!

Kip! - Shifts! This is a Banding event. The only thing we'd need is a bar!

Think of how it'll be at the end though .....40 odd players with no lips left who have been drinking on and off for about 2 days with no sleep....carnage!!!!

and as it's the BBC it would have been 40 odd hours of Floral dance culminating in Terry Wogan singing(?).

What would be really off the wall would be to gather the biggest band ever assembled anywhere..... only to perform as many times as 24 hours will allow.... John Cage's 4'33''!
