Just had a quick look at the members list and noticed that a few people i know have registered in the past, but have never posted, do not appear.

Have they been 'weeded' out and do they need to register again?

It looks as if the listing only includes those who have actually posted - I just did a search for "brassybabe", shown on the portal as our newest member, and she doesn't appear yet. I presume that she will as soon as she makes her first post.

As far as I am aware, no-one should have to re-register, as all previous memberships will have been transferred across.

Correct Peter, in order for your name to appear on the Memberlist you have to have at least one post. Nobody will have to reregister, at all.
