Instrument Case Repair

I have a couple of cases (Besson Tuba) that I believe were originally manufactured by Jakob Winter. The catches/latches are broken in either/and the following ways: the lid’s torsion spring is broken, the lid’s lip is distorted and no longer secures on its mating part on the other half of the case. The latches (locking draw latch?) are marked Sudhaus and SKS (which after searching that probably means ‘same key system’), I can find no other clue to their manufacturer. Complete spare latches are just about available for about £12 each but fitting certainly isn’t a ‘five minute’ job and there are four latches per case.

Has anybody any suggestions or information on the restoration/repair of such cases and/or such latches, please.
