I think she is referring to the finish of a brass instrument. Gold lacquer or silverplate Roger. :)

Hope so anyway!

now.. before we all degenerate into a mutated thread :? (ahem)

we can assume that it's brass related and continue thereupon!

We had our new laquered basses replaced 3 times because of creeping black spot - but I must say that EEbs were "Tinny"and raucous at high volume in the lower register. They were also very easy to "Dint"
They were basically a poorly produced and inadequate instrument.
Eventually about 3 years ago (After we had moaned for months) B&H offered to replace the whole full band laquered set of instruments for silver plate at no expense to us - we bit their hand off !!
The EEbs are much more substantially constructed and are a joy to play - APART FROM - the poor workmanship on the top screw threads of the valves makes it a hell of a job to screw them back on after oiling the valve - ALSO - the plastic valve guides are prone to wear and cause valves to stick on the way up - otherwise - PERFECT !!

Well I thought I would just ask in general if people liked gold or silver better as im doin some coursework and I needed to see if different classes of people, from different areas, would pick the same or different to each other. :)
