Film Music

Just wodering what peoples favorite film music arranged for brass band are? one idea that's been memtioned at my band is doing a film music themed concert. Some TV themes may also be included.

some of my faviorites include

Hymn to the fallen - Saving Private Ryan

Feather Theme - Forest Gump

and for TV - Scarecrow and Mrs. King

Played Feather Theme for the first time the other night. Thought it was really quite special.

A very wistful post for me....................

Though not the entire film score, one piece from The Truman Show is brilliant. The part where they all go looking for him... fantastically descriptive.

"Parade of the Charioteers" from Ben Hur and "Lawrence of Arabia" are both pretty good, and would provide a contrast with all those love themes ;)

The first piece I played in a brass band was Batman - not the Adam West one!!

Gabriel's Oboe from The Mission is a really lovely piece even if overplayed recently.

Back to the Future because it was my favourite film as a kid

I know i'm not very cultured but its hard when you think of all the really rubbish arrangements that have been done for film music down the years.

Sellers also did the march from 'Chicken Run' at BIC. A very witty number indeed and arranged by our very own Gorgie Boy.

Yeah the theme to the new Spiderman movies is very good if a little busy. Theres also 'Lord of the Rings' 'Hedwigs theme' from Harry Potter, the 'Ben Gunn' theme from the Blues Brothers, and if someone ever did an arrangment of 'Beetle Juice' that would be awsome as is Jaws, the march to '1941' the flying theme from 'ET' and the title music to 'Close encounters of the third kind'. Cant you tell that im a massive John Williams fan! Cant beat his stuff with Danny Elfman a close second!
