Well done tMP Brass. Thanks to all concerned for making organising it easy and a pleasure. Apart from the odd last minute glitch (Well done the two Craigs for bravely stepping into the breeches and Stewart, the baritrombist.) everything went to plan. Here are the remarks from adjudicator David Horsfield:-

"Secure opening with tight ensemble. Tasteful cornet soloist and the tempo flows quite well. Rather frantic at times in tutti cornets. Again cornet plays with style and the march is quite musical. Only the occasional blemish, but nothing too serious. Good balance between basses and trombones. Rather loose towards the final section before D.C. Impressive here, better than first time around. A difficult march played at a good tempo; this march needs a slightly steadier tempo than the other marches. Only an occasional tuning lapse detracts.
Thank You,
D.W. Horsfield.

For ten minutes rehearsal, that has got to be a good effort.
Well done everybody. We have been officially invited back next year, don't all volunteer now, but keep the last weekend in June free.
Sud.

I've always said a band is only as good as the bass drum player. :?

But surely, if the bass drum player's doing his job properly, you can't hear the band anyway

I had a great day. Played 3 times tMP, Pride Valley and a very late reserve for Ashington Band on second trombone, sight reading castell coch. They did get best 3rd section band although i am not sure how many 3rd section bands there were?

Great day out and roll on the next march contest :)
