Charity benefits from a bit of Barclay brass

Steven Booth & BarclayBrass Raise £1000 for Guide Dogs.

A charity concert by BarclayBrass and "guests" on Wednesday 12th November raised £1000 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

The concert, masterminded by baritone soloist Steven Booth was the culmination of 5 months of preparation and planning, which brought together Barclaybrass, a band comprising Barclays Bank staff and ex-staff, and selected guests from other brass bands, including some of the best in the country.

Players from Grimethorpe, Faireys, Yorkshire Building Society, Yorkshire Imps, Besses, Poynton, Glossop,Tyldesley and others, gave their time and services free and joined Barclaybrass under their musical director Dave Newman, to present the concert in association with SB Music and Barclays Bank, with all profits being donated to the Stockport, Marple & Distirct Branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind.

In addition to organising the concert, Steven Booth also featured as a soloist and wrote music specially for the event, which was patronised by the Mayor & Mayoress of Stockport, and ably compered by Steven's partner Dawn Cobb.

Other soloists included Grimethorpe's superb soprano player Nigel Fielding, Anna Hughes of YBS and Lesley Bentley from the Hathern Band, with some noteable contributions from percussionists Raillton Hirst and Dave johnson of Tyldesley & Poynton bands respectively.

Steven would like to publicly thank everyone involved in the concert, especially those friends and colleagues who donated their time and considerable talents for free.
