Did anyone see a letter in the Bandsman recently (22 Nov) where a former Dyke player suggested that the top 4 bands should not have to compete at the areas?
Don't know what anyone else thinks but I think that you would only increase the divide between the top 4 and the rest of the banding movement.
I also think that the organisers of the Yorkshire areas would have something to say if the "star attractions" were taken out of the competition.
Ultimately qualification for the nationals is a privilege that has to be earnt via the areas, why should the top 4 be any different?
