I finally achieved my first "best in show" award at the weekend.

My revolving carousel cake won the cake class at Gateshead show, then went on to win best exhibit in show.

Well Done that looks Awesome! How many hours did it take?

I dare not work it out. All the little gold pieces round the top were individually cut and hand painted. The horses are home made cookies which I also iced individually.

Not including drying time I'd guess about 40 hours

It was designed for my little sister so it was a labour of love though. i just wanted her to have a great cake

It started as a hobby. When I got married I wanted a sponge wedding cake (not generally available at that time), as I don't like fruit cake. No one would do it for me so I went to classes, learned the basics and it went from there.

I've done several cakes including the TMP 1st birthday cake and at John's request I usually bring a cake when TMP band does Whit Fridays. Hence the title TMP Chief Cake Maker

I currently run the cakes as a partime business. Theres a link to my website in my signature. Eventually I do hope to make this a full time occupation.

I do other crafts as well including, knitting, sewing, cross stich, card making, decoupage and patchwork.
