BBC Band Concert


The BBC Elstree Wind Band will be recording a programme of light music in the B.B.C.'s premier music venue, Maida Vale Studio One on Sunday, March 2nd. at 4pm.

The concert is being given in suport of the Voice of the Listener Trust.

The programme includes the overture Ruy Blas by Mendelsohn, Malcolm Arnold's Cornish Dances, a selection of John Barry's film themes and 3 new works composed especially for the band.

Two of these are jazz features by the rising star of British jazz, Andreas Panayi. Andreas himself will be playing solo Flute and Alto Saxophone in the first of these works.

Mike Crisp, the Band's musical director, will also be presenting a new composition.
"Merry Mollie" is Mike's fourth piece for concert band and he hopes it will prove as popular with audiences as his recent Horn Concerto.
