Alternative FIngering

The sop part of Tristan involves a lot of pretty lofty stuff with awkward fingering involved.
What I have found useful is using the seventh harmonic of the instrument (which I
know is always flat) but it makes life a little easier.
The seventh harmonic is starting on top Bb on open valves, then working downwards- top A on 2nd, Ab on 1st (which avoids using 2nd and 3rd valves) top G on 1st and 2nd, Gb on 2nd and 3rd, top F on 1st and 3rd and top E on all three.
Obviously some of these fingerings are harder than the proper versions but a few of them are definately worth using. For example a chromatic run up from a top G to a top C would go;
0 -1 -2 -0 -2 -0.
After that top D sharp can be played on 2nd valve and top D on open.
Hope that maybe some use to some members, but I would also like to point out that does not mean I can play my part by a million miles yet!!!

thanks all

i have rehearsal tomorrow night, so i'm sure i'll get plenty of chance to test the fingerings out (oo er missus !) :shock:
