A Cornetists Personality

There are two sides to a cornetists personality. There is the one
that lives only to lay waste to the horns, troms and basses, leaving
them lying blue and lifeless alongside the swath of destruction that
is the cornet's fury. And then there's a dark side...

Cornets only need to count to three :hammer :hammer :hammer

We have seven infinitely variable positions 8)

Like all true Midlanders when faced with the great North/South Divide question, horn players rise above such petty rivalry.

We are the smooth sweet honey 8) in the stale dry sandwich of loud noisy forward-pointing instruments. And if we weren't there you'd all have to sit a lot closer to the cornets.

I used to be a cornet player, but frankly I'm just too nice. :)

I knew that there was another reason for the horns, apart from making the rest of the band sound good.

Anyone seen 'Twins'?

There's Arnie supposedly the perfect specimine and Danny Devito as whats left over...

Surely thats the case of cornet players and the rest of the band.

They got it right with the cornets then thought oh, theres tubing left over, lets see what we can create.

Don't you yearn for that sort of unity in the Cornet "section" :D :D :D
The only unity we require is unity of tuning from the trombone section- ouch!!

Variable is the word- double ouch!

Trombone players come in 2 varieties- inept and tone deaf

Actually most tenor trombones now have a trigger which makes for 13 positions. Double plug bass trom has a staggering 18 positions (if you count both single plugs as the same). But positions are just arbitrary anyway, how many corners does a circle have? and all that.
