Brass At The Guild 2010.. who's going?

What is your problem? In the north west counties there are not enough 1st section bands who enter the contests for the association to run a 1st section on the day, so is it fair to put a newly promoted band nationally to the 1st section who had some success in the 2nd section up against...

Brass At The Guild 2010.. who's going?

Yes - 5 incredible years! Well done to John and the band, the hard work and determination to succeed has all paid off....when we both started the band 5 years ago (when Oldham Brass 97 was down to 7 players - didn't see anyone moaning then) I never thought it would have been as successful as it...

The 2008 North West Regrading debate

Boring Boring...please change the record. Oh, and for the record (AGAIN) let’s just put together a potted history of The Oldham Band (Lees) I was one of the remaining 7 or 8 players that had kept Oldham Brass 97 going, which saw the band get relegated to the 3rd section due to not competing...

The 2008 North West Regrading debate

Please enlighten us...what is your point? I will put the record straight here - not that I should have to! Lees and Glodwick and Cobden Chadwick amalgamated in 1997 to form Oldham Brass 97. If this wouldn't have happended at the time then 2 bands would have folded and been lost forever...

The 2008 North West Regrading debate

Just to put the record straight on behalf of The Oldham Band (Lees) Oldham Brass 97 was down to a collection of 8 players, of varied ability who tirelessly kept the band going until the right opportunity came along. I was approached by John Collins (who ironically was playing for Dobcross...

Pontins 2006 - Test Pieces Announced

We played it at Pontins in 1999 in the second section and won, the band was called Oldham Brass '97 back then but from what I can remember it was quite a catchy piece which was quite good to play and also to listen to. There are some great choices in general this year, can't wait to get to grips...
