I would like to play the cornet solo that I recorded in rehearsal before my FTCL exam in New Zealand but...........
I can't remember the name.
I have asked many cornet players in the UK and NZ but it seems an obscure one.
No-one seems to know what it's called and it may just be a...
Hi again Fergus,
I remember (and still get my pupils to) using a pencil to help strengthen my facial muscles.
You've probably used this already (or heard about it) but you hold the pencil between your lips (not touching teeth) and manipulate the muscles to move the pencil to touch your nose...
Reading this back- it looks that I only advocate 20 minutes - in fact if I have a longish trip I will buzz or play mouthpiece, hosepipe or pocket trumpet in the car playing along with the latest pop stuff! (great for pitching). Twenty minutes many times a day.
Just a quick reply (for the moment) to ask where is the damage? top or bottom lip?
I have had now two accidents which affected my playing.
The first I was on a major road and a tractor moved in my path (car) on the A47. My top teeth went all the way through my bottom lip and I...
For all of you who haven't experienced the fun and musicianship of YABB with Frank Wolff and Co.
Some say that "the piece is not a composition" - I loved playing this in Brisbane and the band watched a video in a hotel room (40 of us?) open mouthed and amazed that we played it so well.
We have had so many "raving" posts on other websites and brass band usergroups in the...
I got it - took me two seconds after my first reply!
I put - "is it all ok now" because I have been pm - ing John and we have discussed this - I have told him that in the morning - as it is 1.40 am in Australia and people are asleep here the author of the site will get an email -...
Which link is missing? Matthews?
Thanks so far for the kind comments -this piece is great and the video of it sounds so so much better than this recording -must have been recorded behind a pillar??
Hi all from Oz where the country is in world cup mourning.
Please go to:
then scroll down and click to hear Kew Band's performance of Extreme Makeover at this year's Australian Nationals at Brisbane.
I am a trombonist from Australia who would like to experience the UK bands and give my dedication to a Championship section band.
I have played Solo Trom, Bass, 2nd, Baritone and Euphonium for some of the top Australian bands and have won the Oz Nationals 3 times as solo trombone.
David Notley here,
Can't make it this time - as some of you know.
I am playing trumpet in the "Coral Princess Orchestra" going from Fort Lauderdale through the Panama Canal via Costa Rica, Cayman Islands, Cozumel - Mexico, and Belize.
Frank said that I will see you in Canada, US.
See you all...
It would've meant a few days off from my job just for a "sit in" and I couldn't make it.
Never went - I do regret it but I have a good job and no work in Scotland.
Thanks for the concern - where are you now?
Thanks Mr. Walker - Live and let Die is on video - Mr. Handley kept holding up his hand - I wondered why he was waving to me - only to tell me that we would repeat 5 times!!
I have been on 4 European and 3 US? tours -
be careful YABBers - I heard that Frank has been on here - he may read...
