    Brass & Bagpipes

Does anyone have any specific advice for playing with Bagpipes? I'm aware pipes can be very sharp. Has anyone come up with a genius way to get the band and pipes to play relatively tunefully together? Thanks!

    Prestige Euph valves advice needed?

I have a 12 year old prestige. And for ages, the first valve was the same - very sluggish and slow to return. Sometimes stuck half way and i had to dismantle it before it would work again. I noticed that 1st and 3rd had ports in the same place (don't think this is the same with the new ones)...

    Nationals 2011 - Cheltenham

Granite City Brass's recording available here http://www.granitecitybrass.co.uk/html/listen.htm Our band were very very pleased with our performance, even if the adjudicator's didn't rate our performance higher than 16th place. What does everyone else think?

    Sold/Expired New Euphonium with Trigger.

I agree. Derick Kane is a fantastic Euphonium player - and his tenure at ISB is record-breaking and Maestro. It's not because he mentioned Song of the Brother. I mentioned that i've never seen Derick Kane use his trigger at all when playing. Toby Hobson then came out with that statement, and...

    Sold/Expired New Euphonium with Trigger.

I would take great offense to the following quote if it was myself "Most good Euph players could be in tune at MF with a thin sound playing The song of the brother, if that what playing at the top level was actually about, triggers would of never been invented!!" I assume that he...

    Sold/Expired New Euphonium with Trigger.

That's right - just slag off a top euph player. I wouldn't say he is any more. But at one point he was - winning the international Euphonium Player of the Year award. That isn't an award that people can achieve very easily. Players go to whoever pays the most. It's a sad fact, and I had already...

    Sold/Expired New Euphonium with Trigger.

not the original poster, but the poster who I quoted. Yes, meant the 6th Partial...just testing you all ;) My argument is trying to defend the original post. Everyone here who as doubted the sales-person who's customer service is CLEARLY fantastic, has just put off a pile of folk from buying...

    Sold/Expired New Euphonium with Trigger.

That wasn't the poster's argument. The poster's argument was that no-one has ever created a euphonium that doesn't need a trigger. In reality - all the trigger does is assists the player in bringing it into tune. If the player works hard enough at it, then they can do it themselves and don't...

    Sold/Expired New Euphonium with Trigger.

To blow your argument clean out of the water... Yamaha Maestro - doesn't have a trigger. The tuning on the 7th Partial on this instrument is excellent (which is what I assume you're talking about). Before you start slagging off manufacturers, you might want to do your research or try the...

Advice needed re. Courtois tenor horns

We tried to sell our horns - but got no-where with them. ours are 180R's. If the two models look roughly the same, then i'd go as far to say that the the 180R is the newer model. They were all awful anyway...
