'Black Dyke readily admits to not being present when they were first called and Prof Nicholas Childs stated to the Booking in Steward that the band would not play if it was a problem.' Hardly arrogance then as has been intimated.

Is there a way back for brass bands?

Not every School. Wardle here in Rochdale have 3 active brass bands; plus a training band; plus a Wind band that has a lot of brass

Is there a way back for brass bands?

Some of us still do - but we call it a training band. we at rochdale currently have 10 young people learning to play; but Bands in the SA are few and far between nowadays

BTW you dont know me from Adam, and at no point did I personally abuse you. You are the classic reason why I use this site less and less. I stated what I saw, heard and read in the delph proramme. So did you state what you saw and heard. Your interpretation and viewpoint was accurate; mine...

With the disqualification I Guess then that 2 DOES mean sticking to an assigned place number. Still enjoyed hearing them though, and Based on where the Ring is I would have to have the X-RAy eyes of Superman to see the infraction. All we see at the ring is the board with the number, band and...

Castell Coch - Why do it?

No the OP doesnt think that. It just that the failed bell effects in CC are so obvious (as they happen several times and right up front)! The Op just doesnt understand why a 1st section band would go into a contest with a march that they so obviously cant play. There is a lot of level of...

Castell Coch - Why do it?

That did occur to me and its the kind of thing I might do; but actually in a contest? Particularly the 1st section band who would seem to have decided by doing that; to ensure that they had no chance of a prize? I guess it kind of emphasises the fact that the Whit Friday contests are really...

Castell Coch - Why do it?

Aahh your complaint is about "Runners" a fine whit Friday tradition! BUT the rules are (at Delph) - 2 - Bands signed in and ready to play when asked. 4 - final signing in - 10:30pm Nowt about sticking to an assigned place number. And as a listener would I have been disappointed if they...

The results are out for Delph. Top 3 bang on for me. Pleased for Milnrow - I thought they might get a place, but I thought the Kings division might have been there too. Good performance from them very early on. Shows what I know

Castell Coch - Why do it?

At Delph this year Castell Coch was played 7 times; an out of those 7 times the band that came closest to getting the bell effect arpeggios correct was a youth band ( and that included a 1st section band)! My question is Why would MD's select a march that they know straight off that it is going...

I saw them at Delph. Shame they will have disqualified themselves - (too many players, using percussion).

Any suggestions for a good instrument insurance company?

I use orchestralguard for the 4 instruments in our house and had the misfortune to have claim within the first year of my Policy. They were really good though and paid up without any quibble; which is what you want from an insurance company really. Been with them for about 5 years now.
