Brighton & Hove City Brass are looking to recruit a Soprano Cornet for the London Regionals and potentially, beyond. If you could also do the scaba contest in Brighton in early March, that would be a bonus!
We rehearse on Mondays in Brighton with additional Wednesday rehearsals in the run up to...
Anyone on here working for a brass related retailer that stocks the Stomvi 3 piece mouthpiece kits?
The Stomvi website has a list of supposed retailers but none of them seem to show this kit in their online websites.
many thanks in anticipation!
Like many other brass band conductors, I never had formal training on things such as baton technique, dealing with complex polyrythms etc, in fact, all the things you would learn on a formal college course for conductors.
I met Russell Gray a few years ago when he came to our band to help us in...
Apologies all for the current spam issue - Peter & I are removing them as quickly as we can spot them but they are persistent!
To whoever owns this site - can you read the post I placed in the Mod's forum and turn off the ability for non registered users to post and also blacklist the ip...
In Gregson's Of Distant memories, the harmon mute indication has (f-t) against. Not something I have seen before. Extended Tube, ET, No Tube, NT etc are clear but this one is new to me. Anyone know what he intended with this?
Brexit doesn't appear to have affected the selection panel for next years German nationals! They have selected Eric Ball and Gilbert Vinter for all the set pieces. (Bands at this event perform 2 works, one set, the other own choice).

Very sad to hear of the death on 18th October of Kenneth Dennison at the age of 86.
Many will know of Ken through his long history of top class banding with Fairy's, City of Coventry & St. Austell, his work with the old Federation of Brass bands or scaba.
I knew Ken though as a friend and...

Enjoying a superb venue and excellent German efficiency here in Bad Kissingen for the German Nationals.
It has been a great experience so far with a full hall for all bands and awesome support from other local bands. The rivalry here is the friendliest I have experienced at a contest.
Can anyone point me to the copyright fact sheet? I don't believe it made it over into the new forum - or search cannot find it!
If anyone has the pdf version, could you upload it as a file attachment?
The goings on in a particular thread over the last few days have for me once again highlighted the issue of anonymous accounts.
Users have been driven away from tMp by such accounts and the trolling that goes with some of them. There are generally much more interesting conversations taking...
From the Hangleton Band website:
"It is with deep regret and sadness, that I must announce the death of David Chappell, our Honoury President.
David passed away peacefully, with his wife Annelen by his side.
David was a loyal supporter of the band and will be greatly missed.
His funeral will...
Sad news that Dag Hollands died last night.
Dag was a member of Eastbourne Silver Band for many years, a band that was conducted by his father for a while. I first met him when I was 10 yrs old when he was a part of Pevensey Silver Band (became Sussex Brass) and we played together in many big...
Christmas time is a busy period for Cologne Concert brass with groups playing every night except Saturday's at the "Heimat der Heinzel" (Home of the Heinzelmännchen) on Heumarkt. This year sees the release of our 2nd Christmas CD "Eine Kölsche Bläsernacht" which can be purchased from the band...
Sad to belatedly report the death at the age of 77 on 2nd November of John Stevens, former Musical Director of the Eastbourne Silver Band, following a long illness.
John was involved in music his whole life, playing in the Royal Artillery Band during his National Service and remained there for...
