Hello again . Having posted this on another very well known social networking site , the scores were ' snapped up ' within 2 minutes , so please do not inbox me as they are now taken . Thanks , Mark .
Would anyone like to have 15 Salvation Army scores ( but no parts ) dating from 1914 to the early 1970's ?
Rescued from a paper recyclers , each score has between 4 and 6 pieces by the likes of Ray Steadman- Allen , Kenneth Downie , Edward Gregson , Michael Kenyon , Robert Redhead and of course...
Hello everyone .
Due to a last minute work problem , Meltham and Meltham Mills Band ( Huddersfield ) require a 1st Horn for The Senior Trophy , Saturday May 11th .
The piece is ' Journey Into Freedom' and we can borrow on a day transfer from anyone not already in the contest , or The British...
Apart from the version in the red hymn books of ' Nearer My God ' , my namesake Nigel Wears has done an arrangement of it as well . Sorry , I cant remember who published it but if its any interest to you I can contact him and ask .
I heard some sad news that Honley's Bass Drum player Carlton Mellor collapsed and died at the end of the contest . (As reported in the Huddersfield Examiner ) .
My thaughts are with the band and his family .
Its ironic I was was just thinking about him a couple of weeks ago as I had a mouthpiece I would have liked re-plating .
He did a fantastic job on a couple of mine a few years ago , and as said earlier he really was a true gent .
A very sad loss indeed .
A few dark clouds in the sky and a bit of a breeze but the rain stayed away thankfully .
Crofton's programme was :-
Cortege from M'Lada
The Cossack
Crimond
Minnie the Moocher ( bass trombone soloist Tom Wellings )
Conquest of Paradise ( from the film 1492 ) .
Well run contest and plenty...
I believe Marsden won at Delph ( to be confirmed ) .
On a much more serious note , I am reading on a well known social networking site (from a few different sources) , that there was some incidents in Saddleworth of a major kind .
I hope they are not as bad as they have been described .
Having had very little response in the above mentioned jackets , the Trustees of Pennine have decided that rather than them gathering dust , we will donate them free of charge to anyone interested .
The jackets are located in a fellow trustees house in Denshaw , Saddleworth but if you are...
