    Fantastic day at The Open

Well said, contest after contest we appear to have to put up with biased live commentary if you do not play like Dyke or Cory then your performance will often `not make a mark today` or will `struggle to feature`. There`s more than one way to win or finish in the top places at a contest and...

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

The issue with Butlins particularly in the Championship section refers to the original rules sent to the bands, every band that appeared to ask for an excepetion to rules had their request sanctioned so what was the point of the original rule ? If the rule was to be ignored then all bands should...

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

When Alan played Sop for GUS he was the bands current principal cornet (and was for several years) he swopped onto Sop just for that contest.

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

So what will you do at the area where you can not borrow any players in any seats ? Not compete ? Or you fill the vacancy with a player from within the band ?

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

A genuine vacancy because the players that have applied are not considered good enough by the band ? I know GUS around 5 years ago could not get a Sop player so they put a cornet player on Sop for 12 months.

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

They did because they were under the impression they could not borrow a player for the Sop seat (even though they had a borrowed player lined up to dep)

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

The issue with the Championship section at Butlins was that the printed rules stated that you could not borrow a player for a principle seat, this was to stop bands getting a ringer in from a band like Corys or Dyke for example, because the Sop part or Cornet part for example may be incredibly...

    Masters 2011

Virtusoi GUS did let the 2nd Horn play the 2nd Horn opening, the Principle Cornet played the solo from start to finish, and the Bass Trom played the Bass Trom Solo. At the RAH last year the 2 Baritones played the 2 Baritone cadenzas and the Solo Horn was not aided by a re-written flugel part. It...
