    Yorkshire Regional Championships - 2010

You cant say that as you dont know what they were listening for. It's a tough test piece & the adjudicators obviously chose aspects to look at before they go into the box.

    Which baritone?

as a euph player who has played a 4valve baritone, i thought it was fine, and managed to produce a quality sound. also, if you're used to a 4th valve (ie - euph) it prevents you from trying to press something that isnt there!!

who? fellow brass banders and spectators? The (real life) chavs at Broadoak couldn't care about anything to do with brass bands apart from the whole American Pie band camp references.

This is a discussion forum...is it not? Im sure the 'moaners' posted their experiences to find out if other bands were involved in the same situation. I know thats what my 'moan' was for. Memphi - the 21 band wait at Delph is proof of how popular and successful Delph is, and with that many...

Funny how Wardle Youth went down at about 6pm, then we were told you're next band on. When we actually went down 45mins later...BT band were playing (or someone who had similar uniforms). Told that we were band number 3....when we were sent down to the bottom, band 8 were waiting to march...

Rumours of queue jumping at Millbroook in Tameside were also flying around. Not just from big name bands (lthough they were rumoured to be involved...2 of them in fact!) but I personally put this down to poor organisation. Telling bands to queue at the top of the hill and to stay on their...

    National Youth Championships 2007

"in the good old days" when i was on bottom 1st baritone with St Helens, they used to be very strong contenders, coming 2nd or 3rd most years. he premier section used to be called the County Section and they had to enter that as there was no scope for them anywhere else due to the size of the...

    National Youth Championships 2007

it's pointless even trying to predict where youth bands will come on contests. The band changes every year due to golden oldies leaving and new blood coming through, it can better or worse the band in a year. Reputations are something that these kinds of things are based on...completely...

    National Youth Championships 2007

but every band is in the same position. As helen_euph ^^^ has just said, once you're too old you cannot play and there are always other younger players to step in. I joined st helens during their running wins at the youth nationals, and principals were replaced numerous times but the band...

    Value of different degrees?

Media degrees are constantly under scrutiny about how un-academic they are...but last year 1of our modules was about Politics and world affairs, we did 20th Century History covering the whole world and my essay covered The Soviet Union. This year we have had to produce a magazine and present...
