I'm back again this year with another crew of whit Friday deps available for your band! Here's what's available this time round:
1x tenor trombone
1x tenor horn
1x baritone/Bb cornet
1x Eb bass
1x Bb cornet (back row)/tenor horn
Ideally looking for a band to take all players, but...
The Shirley Band (MD David Hirst) have the following vacancies available:
Tenor or Bass trombone
percussion (kit or tuned)
The band rehearses twice a week, 8pm-9:45/10pm on Wednesday and Friday in Hockley Heath, which is easily accessible from Birmingham, Warwickshire or...
So here I am again advertising some mercenary brass players available for your bands for whit Friday!
This year this is what I have available:
1 Tenor Trombone
1 Tenor Horn
1 Eb Bass
As always, not banking on getting a band that will take all of us, but that...
I try and use an electronic tuner as little as possible/not at all, as does the better MD's I find. I have one in my case but barely ever use it. I'll use it occasionally at home to check my 5th positions are accurate and tuning higher register (top F, G, Ab, A, B and Bb's always need fine...
I think at this point Brass Metamorphosis is the favorite for 1st section. I've seen it pointed out that Just Music have bumped up the price for that piece quite a bit, so that could be q sure sign that it'll be that.
Not a fan personally. It has nice passages in it so guess I'll have to put up...
Blitz would be a very harsh choice for 1st section! A piece that still provides a stern challenge for most Championship bands!
I'd love an Eric Ball piece though with a Ball piece being the finals piece for 1st section I doubt they'd pick one for he areas too. I'd be content playing Variations...
As far as I'm concerned, the main usage for plastic instruments is as an affordable means for someone to learn or pick up an instrument. For that purpose, they're fantastic. They also have many other great uses such as for things like Christmas caroling, marching jobs, anything where there's a...
Hi Josh. Trombone player here.
Depends how much you're going to be playing. Is this just going to be an instrument to have a toot on now and then or are you planning on playing trombone with groups, and if so what sort of standard? Are you looking for a straight trom or one with a trigger?
There's a group of us that are looking for a band to go with for Whit Friday. Here are the players we have available (some can play multiple instruments):
1 tenor horn
1 tenor trombone
1 Eb Bass
We all play with 1st section bands but are more than happy to...
I'm very happy with the selection. Eric Ball's music (and indeed anything old in general really) really suits my band. I was actually hoping for Eric Ball for our section and got my wish! Can't wait to get my teeth stuck into the Tournament!
You'll struggle to get a good bass trombone for that price, and if you're planning on switching between tenor and bass trom parts, then I'd focus on looking for a Bb/F tenor trom.
I would recommend doing what someone else suggested above and going for an upgrade of your current Yamaha...
Myself and several friends are available to dep for Whit Friday! We were originally planned to be going as part of a scratch band made up of mainly our Oompah Band, but having failed to find enough players to make up the 25 required for a full band, we've had to cancel those plans until possibly...
It's that time of the year again, so thought I'd resurrect this one (over 10 years from the last post!!).
Ravenswood and Knight Templar are my favorites for the contest march.
For the street, Army of the Nile and Death or Glory are two of my favorites, and I do love the old classic Slaidburn...
That may not be a bad thing at all, and could indeed work in your favour greatly! Once your upcoming contest is done, just don't rehears London Overture as intensely until after the new year (or whenever it is you plan on starting serious rehearsals for the Areas). Just rehearse it enough to...
