    Prof. David King

There is a lot of thinking amongst big name conductors in brass band and otherwise, that if an MD can adjust the way he presents the musical ideal, the band will imprve automatically. It's all based on the "What they see is what you get" mentality that Barrie Gott drove into me as a VERY young...

    Yamaha Xeno Trombones

A lot of trombone friends and pros down here are also saying Elkharts and Greenhoes are superb. But I have to remember 1) I don't play trombone all the time) 2) When I do, I've come from BBb bass, or clarinet, or (gasp!) soppie cornet. It's nice to know that your instrument will work for you...

    Yamaha Xeno Trombones

When I bought my first "own" trumpet, I went and got the Conn Semi pro - played beautifully, but I had a lot of issues with the maintenance. Lacquer, slides seized, and corrosion on the valves after 2 weeks!! So when I think Conn, I still think "semi-pro" and "not as good." I admit the...

I've gone and done a baaaaaaad thing:eek: Well, it isn't that bad... just bad for the bank account. I've fallen in love with the Xeno. I am normally a Bass and Bass trom player, so when I got asked to play top seat for the recent Queensland Band Championships, in Northern Australia...

    Top Three Arrangements.......

I've done this version with a D grade band, and (I think it's) Catherill's with an A grade band. Musically, both work, but I think there is more challenge existing in Mr B's.

Am I a grumpy old man???

Personally, I hate making cuts and changes to anyone's music. I assume it was written in a way where it made sense to the composer, AND IT WORKED!!!!! But I will admit, I have made slight changes in some "popular" music to make the endings either a little more fluid, or more realistic to the...

As a teacher, I have read about txt being universally accepted a language. So you'd think us old fogies would just shut up and let you young'uns do it. But then again, more people speak Klingon than English these days.....how would you all feel if the sci-fi fans all started speaking Klingon...
