Band Cymru - S4C TV band contest

What I was getting at is that I think it might look bad for the rwcmd to have been beaten by the local brass band. An amateur ensemble. I'm not saying the players from the rwcmd should be torn to shreds by their tutors over the result. But having seen the final, if you were a student looking to...

    Paddy's London & Southern Counties Area - 2013

Yep... :) QUOTE=cornetcheese;834887]I can definitely say that we didn't have 1 player on stage who was a "dep" or brought/bought in for the contest. Every player on stage was a subscription-paying member of the band who comes to rehearsals week in, week out. I'm pretty sure there are other...

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

hmmm "The rules stated that up to four players could be borrowed but not to play in principal positions or as a soloist unless agreed prior to the contest by the organisers. If thats what was written to the bands then I would be very mad if bands then got players in when I shuffled and...

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

Needless to say we have tried and tried and tried and tried to get him to 'sign' for Flowers, but i actually admire him for wanting to stick with Brunel and help a lower section band progress through the rankings. Careful you might slip in to a different thread...

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

QUOTE=WoodenFlugel;804554]Just picking up on this point for a moment, can anyone think of an instance where a (say) mid-ranking championship section band borrowed three or four players of the above sort of standard, sat them on the corner chairs in order for them to gain a significant advantage...

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

Haha... Just offering a different view...if the rankings worked better then it might be something that could work..? as the bands who have worked harder to get there would have the advantage when they needed to borrow..and the lower ones wouldnt be able to gain those better players to enhance...

Is it cheating to borrow players for contests? 4bars think so

HI All, Hard one this....I have used borrows to cover for spaces and or people that have to work and its quite welcome...but lets say I was doing a piece which has a huge solo for Cornet,Sop,Euph and I then borrowed, Roger Webster,Kevin Crockford and David Thornton..well, I guess ive been...

Why Don't All Bands Advertise Vacancies In One Place?

Hi Dave, Not always the case I guess, if you take on someone on an add hock basis they can play as an extra, then its really fit in when and if you can. Obviously if they wanted to be involved in a contest then that taking on a different amount of commitment and I would imagine that they would...
