    Albert Hall price increase

Having just booked my ticket for the Royal Albert Hall, I see my ticket has gone up from £25 last year to £30 this time. I don't know if prices elsewhere in the hall have gone up by a similar amount but it seems a large increase to me.

The rise of the freelance professional

This thread has been removed following its deterioration into a slanging match. What could have been a worthwhile discussion in general terms has become a witch-hunt which is not what tMP was ever intended to be. I apologise to members for not having spotted these developments until now.

    George Hicks

I'm sure tMPers will be sorry to hear of the passing this afternoon of George Hicks, grandfather of regular poster Chris, and father to two excellent euphonium players in Andrew and Paul. He and I spent some time as the BBb section in Hadleigh Temple Band, and I know he was involved with many...

Sold/Expired Scores wanted: Harmony Music & Plantagenets (loan or buy)

Anyone got scores of 'Harmony Music' and 'Plantagenets' they've finished with? I would have sworn I had 'Harmony Music' but can't find it. Would ideally prefer to buy copies, but would settle for a loan if no-one able to sell. All postage costs would be covered (both ways) if borrowing. Please...

    2011 BBC Proms

I've just been looking through this year's Proms brochure, and yet again there is a distinct lack of representation of brass - and woodwind for that matter. As far as I can see there are no featured ensembles and only one brass soloist, Philippe Schartz in an interesting-looking double concerto...

    "Latest" recording ?

Following on from the brief discussion regarding the two recordings of Philip Sparke's "Capriccio" for trombone I now see that there is a "new" Fountain City Brass recording being released this weekend. Looking more carefully at the online blurb, it transpires that the "latest release" was...

    Maurice Bale
