Woodfalls asking for £3000 to survive....hmmmm

Human nature's a funny thing isn't it. Why is it that when a person or group of people are doing well or trying to better themselves, that people outside the group feel the need to put said group down for their efforts? This whole thread seems to be a very poorly veiled attempt at bad-mouthing...

No, rant of the month has happened on the West of England thread -believe me. I think it starts around page 9(ish) and continues for pages afterwards.

Hi Jimbo - I do fully understand what you are saying and just to add that I was there and having heard the first seven bands, I had it between Woodfalls, Cambourne and Polysteel (based on hearing them, not what I know about them on paper). I had Woodfalls first because I felt they gave the most...

He he - well said Vickitorious :-) I also think it is worth pointing out the positives from the day - one of the adjudicators (can't remember which one??) said on the stage before the results (I'm paraphrasing) that there wasn't a bad performance in the Championship section that day. I've...

And tellitasitis - it also means (whether it's true or not) that you look like a disgruntled member or supporter of Polysteel coming on here anonymously to post garbage. Whether you are a member of Polysteel or not, you are doing them no favours and seriously effecting their reputation. Surely...

Yes you are quite right there - you're arrogant opinion. Just as well you weren't in the box then isn't it. Another constructive option?? Wasn't aware you'd made one yet, so no I think we've heard enough from you.

I'm just a little horn player too :-) and I don't want to upset anyone either. I don't even play in the section and in fact my band came last this weekend (quite deserved I might add). But I also have friends in one of the qualifying bands and have seen first hand how much work they put in and...

Re-read mine then! I wasn't refering to your post in particular - I was refering to all those that were slagging off the results - and that's everyone not just Poly Steel players.

I'm sure you have - but what good's that if you then go and moan to high heaven about the result and prove that you don't really mean a word of congratulations.

Here here. I for one was not dissappointed with the result and also heard talk in the bar to suggest that the two top bands were in with a chance before the results - clearly people were listening to different conversations.

I can't speak for the other posts on here, but no where in my previous post did I mention a band's name when I made my reference to arrogance. I have only skimmed this thread, so don't know if anyone has slagged Poly Steel off (I certainly didn't). Perhaps a little sensative there. My major...

Absolutely. When you go to a contest you take a risk - if you don't like the thought that you might not win, then give up contesting. And if it hasn't occurred to you that you might not win, then perhaps it should have, because no band is perfect and no band has the given right to the result the...

    Mouse Invasion!!!

All I can say is...Unbelieveable...s*ds law!! This morning I signed in to tMP to have a little look at what's going on and I came across this thread. I thought to myself poor caramelbunny it's a right pain having mice - I'm so pleased I don't have them.... How silly of me to speak so...

How many brass bands are there in the UK?

For those who may be interested - I have just received an email back from the BBBR confirming that they cannot be sure of the exact number of unregistered bands in the UK. However, they estimatated that there are approximately two hundred unregistered bands in the UK to add to the 500 or so...
