    Colours of the rainbow....

Nope, just that in all the years of using these I never realised that they were hex versions of the RGB numbers! Every day's a school day!

    Colours of the rainbow....

    Apologies, I really shouldn't stick my oar into things I'm not current on...! (11111111 00000000 11111111 and 11111111 11011010 10111001 FTW!) ;)

    Colours of the rainbow....

They're Hex values, RGB would be 255 0 255 and 255 218 185 :D /geek They're both waves, but light is waves of electromagnetic radiation within a certain narrow band of wavelengths (other bands being radio waves, x rays, gamma rays etc etc), and sound is more of a pressure wave.

SA band music you like to play

I've played Quintessence, but it was a few years ago now and it's a bit hazy! I do recall some rather tasty pedal Fs on the bass bone part... I also played On Ratcliffe Highway at the Nationals in 2007. It was a piece that I really liked initially, but when we started getting into it it kind...

    Slow news day

For great headlines it's hard to beat "Super Caley Go Ballistic Celtic Are Atrocious" after Inverness Caledonian Thistle beat Celtic 3-1 (I think) in the cup a few years back.

(Bass) Trombones - What make do you use?

Bach 50 slides do indeed fit Edwards bell sections; I had to use one when my slide got snapped at Pontin's the other year (ouch). It also seemed add quite a lot of resistance, so may well help in the 'taming' stakes, although for me personally it affected the colour of my sound so much I was...

Who is going to Butlins? (2010)

Apology accepted by a random bass trombonist you once shared a train journey with ;) Can't wait for tomorrow, dissappointed to only be going for the day but such is life. Got my contest buzz on now though.

    Favourite Musical Quotes

How about Tempo di Santa Twelve Days of Hard Work? Cracking. As goes proper quotes, I'd go for Berlioz's "Trombones can chant like a choir of priests, threaten, utter gloomy sighs, a mournful lament, or a bright hymn of glory; they can break forth into awe-inspiring cries and awaken the dead...

Skelmanthorpe Band Slow Melody Competition 2009

Looking forward to this, it was a cracking day last year. Highly reccommended! I have something ace up my sleeve for the ensemble contest this time as well...!

    Calling all trombonists!!

I'd normally be there but I've just found out I'll be travelling down south for work that afternoon which is annoying.

Chat up lines - Best and worst!

I once read of a young lady who was comfortably endowed in the upper torso department being approached by a young gentleman in a bar. The conversation went something like this: Him: Cor, you've got massive bajungas! Her: Meh, tell me something I don't know. Him: The gestation period of a...

    Test Piece endings..........

I can't argue with Resurgam, but good shout on Volcano. For beautiful endings though I'm going to put in a shout for Bruckner 4, given as we seem to be coming over all symphonic!

    Stocksbridge Band Club 2009

Well deserved as well, against some stiff competition too! My legs are still a bit wobbly ;)
