Have we got 'Slaidburn' all wrong?

And then there's the evident reference to 'The Internationale' in the Trio section of Slaidburn. You may be on to something here, Dave!

    Paddy's Yorkshire Area - 2012

Thanks Ian - yes we were very pleased with the performance, aside from one or two slips, and happy with the verdict. Stocksbridge and Imps were always the main contenders so to finish 'best of the rest' (and dodge relegation) was very gratifying. But I won't settle for third place next year...

    Soundcloud

For anyone interested, I've just started a Brass Band Group on www.soundcloud.com This is intended primarily for composers to upload any recordings of their work they'd like to share. (Copyright laws obviously preclude recordings of published music, and in any case there are already plenty of...

    Wedding walking out music

Pieces that are long overdue a recording.

I'm still after a recording of Birtwistle's 'Salford Toccata'. Speaking of Nigel Clarke, is there a recording of his Pendle Witches available? D

    UK Copyright.

Excuse me? No, I'm in complete agreement that 50 - let alone 70 - years is far too long. Copyright must exist to protect the rights of composers over their own intellectual property and to earn an honest crust. 15/20 years would cover the lifetime of a composer's widow in the vast majority of...

Better than your spelling, pal! I don't take my interpretation into the box with me; I'm very happy to listen to yours, and really there is no single 'correct' interpretation of a piece of music in any case, not even the composer's. Different approaches may work equally well. And I had...
