Let's just leave it like this - there has never been an instance where five bands have been relegated from any section in any area. I will predict that the three bands with the highest points total will get relegated.

Yes, but you think that the all the bands with the highest two ranges of points will get relegated, whereas in practise if there is more than one band with the highest points total, then those bands will all be considered for relegation and no band with a lower points total will be considered. I...

Sorry, mate, just speaking my mind not intending to slag any band off. Hepworth were indeed in danger of being relegated and came up with the goods last weekend to stave off that threat. I am not slagging off Imps, just stating that for two consecutive years they should have mathematically been...

The bands with the two poorest aggregate placings, not points, go down - there are three bands all placed last

Don't you see that there are THREE bands with the lowest points, not five, which should mean that Yorkshire Co-op, Pennine and Lindley go down. This should help balance the number of bands in the championship anyway as there are too many at the moment - due mainly, as I recall, to the number of...

Well done at Bradford Well done the bands at Bradford, especially the top four who were a league apart from the rest in my opinion. Grimethorpe gave the more conventional performance of Rienzi and deservedly took the top place - good to see Kevin Crockford back to his winning ways. Dyke gave a...

Hepworth? I doubt it - they are more likely to be worried about relegation. I agree that B&R and Dyke will be putting up great performances but I think you have to consider Grimethorpe with their new line up, YBS, and Sellars/Rothwell have always been consistently up there.

Last year the Imps left the championship, but this year looks problematic too for a couple pf bands. Take a look at the rankings for the last 2 years amalgamated results: Brighouse & Rastrick 1+ 3= 4 Yorkshire Building Society 6+ 1= 7 Grimethorpe 5+ 5= 10 Sellers 3+ 4= 7 Black Dyke...

    2004 Open Results

I was amongst the many who were astounded at the result. Dyke, Fodens and BAYV were a class above the rest but no way should Dyke have gone as low as 6 - definitely a top three place for all who I spoke with!

Well done YBS for standing up to these guys. No defending champion again - this time brought about by the organisers themselves.

What a well constructed letter this is. Hats off to Leyland for the way in which they have conducted themselves over this furore, and hats off to Allan Littlemore, once but no longer associated with Leyland, for sticking up for them and exposing the exchange of calls and correspondence which...

    2005 Masters Becomes International?!

    (1) Very bashful. Who says this is a "major"? (2) Its my ball and I'll take it home if I want to. (3) I wonder if this limited company will make the public aware of how successful they expect the contest to be next year by allowing us to see the names of the bands from whom they have...

    2005 Masters Becomes International?!

In the British Bandsman this week there is the inevitable article on this topic. David King criticises the organisers for abusing the trust of the English bands who have supported them through the years and also claims there is no place for a privately run pseudo-European contest when there is...
