I agree totally.
As I said earlier, I heard all 17 bands and some sounds overwhelmed the room.
Lots of bounce-back from the concrete ceiling, swallowing much of the detail.
However, some bands accomplished excellent performances, despite the room influences, yet appeared lower than anticipated...
It is strange how the stage affects so many adult players.
Youngsters seem to take public performance in their stride but as we get older and more experienced, the self doubts seem to increase.
Peer pressure and the fear of losing points for the band seem to inflict some fine soloists with...
It is always going to be close in our Area, Tim.
I cannot be shocked at the Thoresby placing, as they have done it before, fairly recently.
The JLR result is a surprise. A great band, with a massively experienced MD, in Dave Lee.
With Desford, you don't really know what you will be hearing from...
Having apparently just recovered my cranium from my rectum! I would just like to thank the Area committee and stewards, for their work last weekend.
It is a generally thankless task, and being as dedicated as they need to be takes real commitment.
It was a fantastic banding weekend, reflecting...
Your response is adequate evidence of your behaviour.
I suggest you leave it at that point, before you dig yourself a deeper hole.
I would also point out that I am not a female, so do not feel intimidated by bullish males.
Enjoy your day out, hunting sabre toothed Tigers and Mammoth.
Congratulations to Gus and Thoresby bands.
Desford third and JLR 6th, what do I know about predictions?
The three recently promoted bands (Bilton, Leicester co-op and Shirley), found the going tough, it always is in this section!
Derwent continue their good form with a commendable 5th place...
Not an over-reaction then, Ian?
The thread was going nice and relaxed and you put the frighteners on a fellow band member. Sad move.
All you really achieved was drawing attention to an innocent observation from an enthused member, which you state might attract 'scandal monkeys' !!
A great day at the third section contest, today.
I heard all 17 bands and met a lot of old buddies.
My own predictions were way out with the adjudicators, though we all know that is par for the course!
The first two bands, Amington and Ifton, set a high bar, though neither got into the top six...
I see that the central area draws least interest on 4br, again!
No runners or predictions yet, last to be listed-as usual.
A busy weekend, I know, but it takes place tomorrow.
Come on band world, we have the same hopes and ambitions as 'oop Noorth'. Show an interest!
It looks to be a decent contest in prospect at the weekend, Steve.
The second section exposes the bands more than the others in our region, being the smallest and preceding the Championship section.
There are no outsiders either, the standard should be very high.
Welcome to one of our American cousins!
You will probably find the forum quiet at present Jim, it is a major Area qualifying contest this weekend.
I hope that you enjoy getting involved in our wide-ranging chat.
Totally agree with all points that you make.
One of the most infuriating aspects of the adult world, is that the majority don't behave like adults.
People sometimes take office for the wrong reasons and subsequently become self-serving.
When you are appointed as a representative of any group...
