    Paddy's National Finals - 2010

Ooo very controverstial Andy!! What I find strange/interesting though is that all the Yorkshire bands apart from in the 4th section were placed next to each other. 3rd and 4th in second section, last 2 in 1st section and 12th and 13th in 3rd section. Good to see we're consistent!

Brass At The Guild 2010.. who's going?

I played at Preston for the first time yesterday and although it was a great day, like others, I'm not sure I agree with bands being entered into lower sections than their official placing. Not only is it unfair to other bands, it must be frustrating for the players of the bands in mention. How...

Morley March & Hymn Tune Contest 2

Lol, it might be a long march but at least it was straight. Although the cars parked on the side of the road nearly got in my way! The joys of marching!!

    Alberta Suite- anyone know it?

I played this piece at the wessex band summer school in 2005 and I thoroughly enjoyed it! There are some really lovely moments in the 2nd movement and the third movement is really fun to get your fingers around it! So I'd recommend it!

    Euphonium - West Yorkshire

Liz Stimpson Solo Euphonium at Knotingley Silver band (1st Section) Tel: 07793680781 Email: elizabeth@ksband.co.uk Hi all, I'm willing to help out any band in the west yorkshire area (and beyond within reason). I don't have transport but I wouldn't always require a lift if there's a train...

    Re-Scoring

This is a good question. On the one hand, both bands do as well as each other, the full band have done what the score asks them and played the piece to the best of their ability. The band with missing seats has also done well to achieve a convincing performance with player's missing, which can...

    Re-Scoring

Not at all, I think all players should have a good chance at playing their own parts, not just one or two run throughs. People should (and hopefully this is the case) be given credit for trying to play/practise their parts, whilst stretching their ability. There's nothing worse than giving it...

    Re-Scoring

 I'm calm, I was just putting my point across, i also agree that if people want to keep their parts then they should be practised, which would help both sectionals (instead of note bashing) and the conductor's job of re-scoring. Anyway, just my thoughts.

    Re-Scoring

And what i meant was band's who had no other way around it, i.e not a full ensemble (as charmed said). Paddo, you know well that I hate playing other people's parts instead of sitting down and seeing my own part in front of me, but if bands are unfortunate to not have a full line up then what's...
