Oldham (Lees) Band in concert with David Thornton and Richard Marshall - 17 April

Haha!! I was warned I would "lose it a little" when I have the baby - Im not sure what my present dizzyness is down to now (Im not sure being pregnant is 100% to blame either - I don't think I have ever been "all there"!)

Oldham (Lees) Band in concert with David Thornton and Richard Marshall - 17 April

Certainly - I am not sure these are ALL the pieces the band played, my memory isn't what it used to be ;) David Thornton played Variations on Rule Britannia and Nessun Dorma and Richard Marshall played The Nightingale and the cornet solo Muschla (apologies – I have probably spelt that wrong!)...

Oldham (Lees) Band in concert with David Thornton and Richard Marshall - 17 April

Hopefully it will encourage people to come!! £8 is a bargain to see both Richard Marshall and David Thornton perform - and of course the money is going to the running costs and prize fund for Whit Friday, which I am sure many tMP-ers will be eager to try and win! (I understand...

The Oldham (Lees) Brass Band will be performing at St.Edwards RC Church, Lees this Saturday night with guest soloists David Thornton and Richard Marshall. The concert is in aid of the Lees Whit Friday Contest Fund - 2010. As many of you will remember last year was a very soggy event and...

    Tameside 2010

Steve, I suggest you read the Brass at the Guild 2010 thread for a full explanation of this, rather than another thread get side tracked with the reasons for one band not doing what everyone else expects them to do. It just not worth another wasted thread over it...in the nicest possible...

Sinfonietta Pastorale, Henry Gheel - 2001, Rep with Wellington (Telford) Brass Band...I had not long been introduced to brass bands from an orchestral start in life!! :)

Brass At The Guild 2010.. who's going?

The three players I saw who were upset had all won 5 consecutive area contests by the age of 17 - is that something you can boast Billy? I don't think you are even sure of what your case is. Well said Keith. Billy obviously has no real point he is trying to make - merely putting down the...

    "Cheating" at contests

If an MD takes a movement faster or slower as they think it makes it feel better, they don’t always get pulled up for not being the exact tempo marked on the score although technically its wrong – it’s how it sounds/feels and as long as it fits musically then there usually isn’t a problem and...

Regionals 2010 : First Section Test Piece - Moorside Suite

Like some people above have said - its not just the notes on the page (or for bass trombone, lack of) but also the MUSIC - something I think people seem to forget. Music isn't just the notes, it is the pictures it conjours in your head, the emotion the music makes you feel. There might be...
