One Trick Pony MDs

We had the good fortune to be awarded 1st place at the 3rd Section Yorkshire Regionals on Hollywood!. This is only the 2nd time our MD John Davis has received a 1st place at an area contest.

The previous time was in 1996 with The Riddings Band in the 2nd Section on the same test piece Hollywood!

We jokingly ribbed him about this and we are looking forward to it being selected at a future contest. So does any stato know if any other MDs have achieved a similar double on an area test piece when used more than once?

Congratulations to all the placed bands and to Skelmanthorpe B for their anticipated promotion (unofficial) and a massive big thank you to John Davis and the whole Dronfield team for all their hard work and the efforts that allowed us to obtain the success we have.

when last used as an Area test piece in 1974 3rd Section i was a x*/#% year old Principal Euphonium player with the then Rossington Colliery Band.
We won. Very much doubt that repeating itself on Sunday.

Francis has many tricks, managing the vast store of music in their place as he does, is a monumental achievement. He is so dextrous he could be on Bb Bass.

Well the challenge is set so good luck with that one - at least the numbers is more manageable this year and a little less like the lottery of past years
