In my opinion Hammonds will win it this year, they have a strong band and results have been good for them. The area result last year was a disappointing result but with the players they have round the stand they can definatly cope in the Championship Section. Another band who played well at the area, Roberts Bakery, I think this could be the band to watch, I also agree that it is a strong section this year but I hope my band can go there and win it.

oh obviously Hammonds are going to win it! i mean their a championship outfit afterall!

dark horses i recon has gotto be us (courtesy of their solo BBb bass player ;)!) or the bont for that matter... deffo if they have matt jenkins on euph!

I agree it looks a strong field, but it may be a bit early to speculate on how bands will do. The choice of test piece may play a big part, particularly if they were to go for something more contemporary. That would certainly favour a band like Hammonds with players of their experience.

Aldbourne look to be on good form too, not least after Blackpool. Interesting to note that both the West of England bands have the same odds at present, as do all three L&SC bands. I realise there's not much contesting to be had between now and the National Finals, but it'd be interesting to see how things move.

Eagerly awaiting the test piece announcements...

It is a very strong line up.
Titans Progress from Blackpool last week is not old and Hammonds did not do too well on it. Will they be a little deflated by the result in Blackpool last weekend?
It may make them more determined.!!

It could well be a Yorkshire 1 and 2 as Yorkshire Imps have been having a decent run of form for the last 6 months or so.

Roll on September.

I'd keep an eye on Melingriffith too - they've had the 2nd section title recently and continued on the up-and-up. I'd imagine they know what they're doing, and what it [could] take to win...

When are the pieces due to be announced?? Is it in the next month or so? Any rumours as to what it will be for 1st section?

I'd imagine they'll be keeping the pieces as tightly under wraps as possible; weren't this year's Area pieces 'leaked' a couple of weeks before they were due to be announced?

They were announced early but I'm not sure if they were 'leaked'. I know it caused some issue regarding the release date of the Regionals CD

Why have the odds changed so much, is it because we all know now what piece we're playing? Yorks Imps haven't beaten Hammonds recently, I really don't understand why Hammonds have slipped so far down the odds, everyone is tipping them to win! xxx
