Have to back Mic up there. Drig are a good bunch.

Wakey Met (also Champ) need a rep/4th man too, so if you know cornet players who aren't yet signed up and might fancy a pop at Wilby's finest hour, we'd be grateful for passed on phone numbers via PM, or directing them to http://www.wmbb.org/

Will return the compliment Andi.. Wakey are a cracking team too (with a great, friendly, rivalry between us) :D

Would be great to see us both turn out a full line up in March!

Drighlington, just off J27 M62 between Leeds and Bradford, need a Front Row Cornet John, fancy a crack at Paganini?

Paganini is a little beyond me (unfortunately). My own band hasn't contested for a few years (although we are working towards a 'comeback' before too long). I was going with Dearne, but due to lack of players, in some sections, they are not, now, going.

Got to ring someone up later as I've been told that they are in need.

Ah well.. All the best on the comeback, and hope you still get the chance to compete this year! :)

Just had a look at your website out of interest and to see where I might catch you playing in the near future. (Excluding St Geo's !)
The forthcoming engagements page only goes to 2009 !!
Some serious updating needed.

- Mr Wilx

Does it?!?! Crikey, that is pretty bad form isn't it!

I get all the engagements off the board in the bandroom so I can't say I've ever looked, but I'll be sure and raise that one at the next rehearsal. Thanks for the pointer Wilky!

Edit: those are actually the 2010 jobs, Mr Wilx, although why it says 2009 at the top is anyone's guess. I'll have a word and make sure that's corrected when the 2011 jobs go up!

I'll second that. Good luck wherever you end up, John. :)

Impressed !

A fair number of bands have been on the contest stage over the last 6 weeks or so, so it's time for an update ahead of 2011...

Championship Section
Black Dyke - 13/8 fav (from 11/5) on second thoughts I think they're gonna come out fighting in 2011
Brighouse & Rastirck - 11/5 (7/4)
Grimethorpe Colliery - 11/4 (5/1)
Rothwell Temperance - 11/2 (11/4)
Carlton Main Frickley Colliery - 12/1 (10/1)
Hepworth (Cookson Homes) - 33/1 (40/1)
Marsden Silver - 100/1 (200/1)
Skelmanthorpe - 150/1
Wakefield Metropolitan - 350/1 (500/1)
Hade Edge - 500/1
Drighlington - 500/1
Old Silkstone - 500/1
Hebden Bridge - 500/1

Yay for Black Dyke!!!:) *tries not to show any favouritism*

Now that we have a confirmed line-up it's time to see the market post-Butlins and with the league and tMPers opnions taken into account...

Championship Section
Black Dyke - 13/8 fav
Brighouse & Rastirck - 15/8
Grimethorpe Colliery - 5/2
Rothwell Temperance - 6/1
Carlton Main Frickley Colliery - 18/1
Marsden Silver - 66/1
Hepworth (Cookson Homes) - 100/1
Skelmanthorpe - 200/1
Drighlington - 500/1
Wakefield Metropolitan - 500/1
Hade Edge - 500/1
Old Silkstone - 500/1
Hebden Bridge - 500/1

Just heard that Old Silkstone aren't going this year, and they now don't show on the Yorkshire website - commiserations to all those at Old Silkstone who I am sure will have been working their n...s off to get a band together - its getting really worrying seeing the number of bands struggling for players - not sure what the answer is, is the top section just too big astep nowadays, should we leave it to the pro's?

and yet the website still shows Dearne Valley as going, even though they pulled out some weeks ago.
Ironic that a couple of the guys from Dearne were going to play with Old Silkstone as Dearne weren't going.

Deepcar not on Predictions

Deepcar Band are down on the Yorkshire site and Paddy's given odds but I can't see their name on the predication site - although Dearn Valley are on (and not going) - Prediction mods to the rescue please?
